Jewelry Blogs to Explore

As I've been trying to improve the quality of my own blown glass jewelry blog and also get some inspiration, I've been perusing other jewelry blogs out there. It's like a worlds within worlds, as any individual jewelry movement has its own history, unique story, and personalities. Here's some blogs that I like if you've got time for an adventure through the history and culture of jewelry.

The Jewelry Loupe

This is my favorite. She weaves stories about each piece of jewelry, giving a sense of richness and culture to each piece she brings up. I think this is so important: not just the jewelry itself, but the story behind the making of it, and what the artist was thinking or feeling when they came up with each piece. Her piece on carved opals is one of my favorites.

Rio Grande

Rio Grande is not only one of the most popular online retailers of precious metals, jewelry findings, and stones, the also have one of my favorite blogs. Their artisan profiles are particularly interesting, I love to compare my own journey as a jewelry maker to others on their path. There's also a great deal of info here if you want to learn more about jewelry making and precious gems and metals.
